Many Nashville public schools are using an assessment known as MAP to keep tabs on the progress of its students. This assessment determines the growth of its students over the school year and can communicate if a student is at their specific grade level. Growth scores, on the other hand, are used to determine how much a student has learned over a specific period of time despite where they began.
These MAP assessments are currently being utilized in over 7,400 schools globally, and Rocketship public schools have been using it since they opened their first school. Academic growth is very important and especially for students who are at a financial disadvantage. Students who come from impoverished families are typically behind in school, and many of the students attending schools in Nashville are form such homes. These students tend to be behind and stay behind until they eventually drop out. 70 percent of students attending Rocketship schools are considered to be disadvantaged, but 146 of their students were able to catch up and actually ended up being above grade level in just the past year alone. Rocketship students grew an average of 1.35 years in math and 1.2 years in reading last years as well. Catching up is difficult but not impossible with the right help.
Rocketship schools offer authenticity, community, tenacity, innovation, and excellence and are dedicated to the success of their students. They offer personalized learning and help to develop the many talents of their students. Rocketship Schools also know the value and importance of keeping parents involved and keep them in the loop as well.
